Center of Zoological Evolution and Systematics, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Associate Professor (with Prof. Xing-Ke Yang ), April 2006 - now
Assistant Professor (with Prof. Xing-Ke Yang), July 2002 - March 2006
Mainly focus on systematics, morphology and zoogeography of Chrysomelinae, high level phylogeny of Coleoptera, develop and optimize innovative morphological techniques by using modern histological techniques.
Department of Entomology, Institut für Spezielle Zoologie und Evolutionsbiologie mit Phyletischem Museum; Friedrich Schiller Universit?t Jena, Germany
Postdoctoral fellowship (With Prof. Dr. Rolf G. Beutel), Jan. 10, 2006 - Jan. 28, 2007
Mainly focus on high level phylogeny of beetles, a major field of my research is the phylogeny of major subgroups of Coleoptera such as Archostemata and different lineages of Polyphaga (Elateriformia, Bostrichiformia, Cucujiformia). Emphasis is on a thorough investigation and documentation of morphological characters of different life-stages.The aim is to obtain solid phylogenetic results by analysing comprehensive morphological data sets and by combined analyses of morphological characters and molecular data. The trees are the basis for evolutionary interpretation of character transformations. I also focus on develop and optimize innovative morphological techniques by using modern histological techniques, SEM, TEM, different 3-dimensional reconstruction methods (e.g., Maya?, imaris?), CLSMand x-ray Micro-Computer tomography. The use of μ-CT will likely revolutionize insect anatomy.
